| FLUENT IN CHEMISTRY
Are you Fluent in Chemistry? I am. I can't explain it, it always came naturally to me. Chemistry is such a big part of my life, that I left my home (in Hong Kong) to pursue a PhD from UCLA. For every year that I spend in this Doctorate program, it is one more year that I spend apart from my friends and family. Even so, it's worth it because UCLA has one of the best Chemistry programs and I could not pass this opportunity up. That brings me to why I am writing to you today.
CHEMISTRY TRANSLATOR
I am offering my services as a translator. Now I know that it's incorrect to say "I speak Chemistry." But, I believe that you have to approach Chemistry like you would approach learning a foreign language. At first, nothing really makes sense. And when it does make sense, it's in bits and pieces. But the more you understand, the more things make sense. You see, I intend to translate the language of Chemistry so that it makes more sense to you. Don't ask me for help in creative writing, or history because I can't help you. But when it comes to Chemistry, I can help.
LEARNING CURVE
We all learn differently. The problem with our classroom structure is that it is in a one-size-fits-all approach. If you fail to grasp a concept, then too bad. That's because the teacher has to keep moving forward for the other classmates. Moreover, one concept generally builds upon another. And when you don't fully grasp a concept and attempt to move forward, you are building on a rocky foundation. You wouldn't build a house on rocky foundation. It's the same with chemistry. You can't expect good grades in chemistry with a weak foundation.
GRADES MATTER
Let's face it. Grades matter because your future employers and/or schools may screen your application based on your grades. Now, we know that grades don't tell the whole story, but that's what our society uses as a measuring stick. That's why it is imperative that you earn good grades. Not to prove to everyone how smart you are but because it can open doors for YOUR FUTURE.

NO EMPTY PROMISES
